Ruhan is a South African Optometrist who has worked in South Africa, the UK and volunteered through Vision Aid Overseas (VAO) in Burkina Faso on several occasions.
Karlijn is a Physiotherapist from the Netherlands. She has previously worked in physical education development in South Africa through Sports Coaches Outreach (Score)
For the past year we have both been volunteering at Gondar University Hospital, Ethiopia teaching at our respective faculties. Karlijn had a VSO placement and Ruhan employed by ORBIS Ethiopia. Both of these schools are still in their infancy, and the first of their kind in the country.
We were both looking for a challenging project through which we could raise money for much needed equipment for further development in our two departments.
